Life

Work is important. But it’s not everything. Here’s what fills my cup when I’m not helping contractors build better businesses.

The Outdoors

There’s something about being outside that resets my soul. Whether I’m in a deer blind at dawn, wading a river with a fly rod, or just sitting by a campfire with my boys — that’s where I feel most alive.

  • Hunting — Deer, dove, duck. It’s about patience, presence, and providing.
  • Fishing — Bass, trout, whatever’s biting. The line in the water is therapy.
  • Camping — Nothing fancy. Just stars, fire, and family time.

Homesteading

We’re slowly building toward a more self-sufficient life. There’s something deeply satisfying about growing your own food, raising animals, and learning old skills in a modern world.

Snowboarding

Every winter, if we can swing it, we hit the mountains. There’s nothing quite like carving fresh powder with your kids, followed by hot chocolate and sore muscles.

Brotherhood

I’ve learned the hard way that men need other men in their lives. Real friendships — the kind where you can be honest about your struggles and hold each other accountable — don’t happen by accident. You have to build them intentionally.

I wrote more about this here: How to Find and Create Uncommon Brotherhood

Family

Above all else — family. Lynette is my partner in everything. Brock, Jack, Millie, and George keep life interesting, loud, and full of love. We’ve got a chocolate lab named Cacao who thinks she’s human, two cats who definitely run the house, and a tortoise named Bungie who’s playing the long game.

Life is full. Life is good.

Curious how I think about success? I wrote about that too: How Do You Define Success For Your Life?
